Leyton Orient vs Portsmouth Preview

Last updated : 11 March 2013 By Jim Bonner

Pompey travel to Brisbane Road tomorrow night looking for a third consecutive victory to really boost the fight against a points deduction next season.

Team News

Sam Sodje is available again after serving his three match suspension but Guy Whittingham and Andy Awford are likely to stick with the same team that beat Bury on Saturday.

Club captain Nathan Clarke will be missing for Orient after suffering a rib injury against Shrewsbury and will be replaced by Elliot Omozusi.

The Match

Despite recording another win on Saturday, some fans will completely agree with David Connolly's assessment of the match when he said that Bury could have been out of sight after a dismal first half and an improvement is required to win tomorrow.

Orient aren't in bad form having taken the same amount ofpoints in their last six games as Pompey have. The O's still have a silm chance of finishing in the play-offs and so Russell Slade will have his team motivated for this one.

Kevin Lisbie was a massive thorn in Pompey's side when the teams met at Fratton Park earlier in the season but our defending has improved so hopefully Rocha and Gyepes do a better job of shackling him this time.

This will be a difficult game and a real test of how much Pompey have improved in the last week or so.

Let's just hope the snow doesn't postpone it!

Pompey may have lost on the night but still beat Orient 2-1 on aggregate after Deon Burton scored twice in the first leg. Terry Fenwick's men would then lose the second round to Wimbledon.

My Prediction

Pompey haven't won three games in a row for over two years now and whilst we'd all like that to change I think we'll have to settle for a draw tomorrow night.
