Let's all get behind Milan

The Martin Murphy story has certainly touched a nerve with many people around Fratton Park and for most people connected with the club. There is no doubt that things behind the scenes haven't been right for many years but this is not through the desire to make things right by Milan Mandaric.

Mandaric, used to instant success through determination and hard work has been let down badly since his time at the club. By the players and by his backroom team - after committing so much of his time and money into Pompey, it's surprising that he's kept plugging on for so long, constantly trying to make things right at Fratton Park. One thing that has kept him going through the bad times is the complete support of the fans - and with that dwindling in some quarters, Fratton Faithful would like to put it on record right here, right now: Milan Mandaric is the man for Pompey and if he leaves, it will be a tragic day for Portsmouth Football Club.

This site has never implied that Mandaric wants to sell Pompey, it just stated that he has reached an all time low and is unsure of what step to take next - something he would admit himself. He admits that he has made mistakes - it seems like Pompey always churn up the same people for the board at Fratton Park: Deacon, Murphy, Brady and Dineage are a team with conflicting opinions - Pierpoint, so close to ironing out the creases at Frogmore Road, was another man who fell by the wayside. The part time introduction of Peter Storrie won't help in the long run.

Pompey need fresh blood behind the scenes. A Colin Hutchinson figure with strong business and football sense who has the authority to stamp his mark on the club, leaving Mandaric free to be chairman once more and not a fireman, caught between the flames of the board.

For him to have the strength to do this, he needs our support, as fans we want to see the team winning and the club to possess a well oiled machine in the engine room. Only then will we ever have a shot at the big time. This site believes that stories like the Martin Murphy one should be run - we as fans own the club and want it to succeed. However that doesn't mean we are trying to pull the club down. We are all working towards the same goal - Premiership football and Premiership success on this great club on the South Coast.
