Leeds boss sacked after Fratton Park flattening

Reid's sacking was undoubtedly helped along its way by the record Premiership defeat by Pompey at the weekend, although simular losses to other teams, such as the 4-0 reverse at Leicester, can't have helped. Leeds find themself stranded at the bottom of the table with eight points. A win, however, would've put the Elland Road club only one point behind Portsmouth!

Harry Redknapp had shown sympathy for Reid in the wake of the game, stating: We've had a great day but I have every sympathy for Peter Reid.

"He can only work with what he's got and maybe he's stuck with a few players who are not earning the money they are getting. Leeds are at the bottom but I think very few sides would have lived with us today."

The Leeds board didn't see it that way though, and terminated the Leeds manager's contract soon afterwards.
