Lawrence Reiterates Pompey Commitment

Liam Lawrence will be staying at Portsmouth after the midfielder confirmed he has already signed a contract to make his loan switch automatically permanent on January 1st.

Like many other Pompey fans, I was worried that clubs in a better position than Portsmouth could tempt our most creative player away but the Irish international could not have been more affirmative in an interview with the local news today which can be viewed here.

The news isn't all good though because due to the nature of Lawrence's emergency loan situation, the loan period of 93 days expires before Pompey travel to Elland Road to play Leeds on the 28th of December. Therefore, Lawrence will be forced to miss that match.

Liam also revealed that he may have missed the Barnsley game instead of the Leeds fixture but he and Steve Cotterill decided for him to miss the latter. That was a bad decision as Lawrence performed poorly but then hindsight is such a wonderful thing, isn't it?

But otherwise it's great to see Lawrence set the record straight as did David Lampitt in his blog on the official site. It's about time we had some honest communication within this club.
