There is strong media speculation going around Portsmouth today that Peter Crouch will return to the club where he first made his name.

It's no secret that Harry Redknapp loves him and the newspapers are reporting that Pompey are prepared to offer the lanky 27-year-old a reported £75,000-a-week wage as well as an £8 million offer to Liverpool to tempt them to sell.

Despite his previous stint with Scummers and that horrible memory of him doing the funky chicken after scoring that penalty at St. Mary's back in 2005, I'd have him back at Fratton Park.

He already knows the club, had the best spell of his career under Redknapp, is a proven goalscorer at this level and he may be the perfect foil for Defoe up front next season.

Another of his former clubs, Aston Villa, are also rumoured to be interested in him as are Manchester City but if we win the FA Cup then surely we'd hold an edge over these clubs for the England striker's signature. That's if he wants to sign for a club whose fans regularly labelled him as a "Scummer"....

Speaking of Scummers it looks like we might be poaching Nathan Dyer from our neighbours for next to nothing as he's out of contract in the summer. The 20-year-old is said to have a bright future but is probably more famous for (allegedly) robbing Bar Bluu with Bradley Wright-Phillips. I wouldn't want a criminal in our team, no matter how much potential he has.

Especially if he is the replacement for Niko Kranjcar who is rumoured to be a £12 million transfer target for Arsenal in the summer. That rumour gathered more fuel after his father touted him for a move to a club that would suit his style of play.

Niko has sometimes been instrumental in our performances this season but I have to say that if Arsenal came in with a bid even as high as £10 million then I'd accept. Despite his obvious qualities, I think that Redknapp could find an even better winger for that sort of money.

Saying that, I'd be more than happy to see him stay at Fratton Park as he's only going to get better and will perhaps command an even bigger fee if, or more likely when he leaves the club.

The Sun are also reporting that Celtic are lining up a £2 million move for Noe Pamarot although that's just probably tabloid trash.

The bottom line is that a little game on May 17th will go a long way in either attracting players to the club or keeping them here. Until the season is over I'll find it hard to believe any gossip.
