Lampitt Claims Cotterill's Staying

David Lampitt has allayed fears that Steve Cotterill is being lined up to replace Alex McLeish at Birmingham by stating that they would refuse any approach for him and that the relegated Premier League club have not been in contact with the club.

The Pompey manager has had a meeting with Roman Dubov to discuss transfers and plans for the future, which would suggest that he is indeed staying put. Incidentally, the bookies' odds on him becoming the new Brum boss have drifted to as long as 6/1, with Chris Hughton now favourite for the job.

The Portsmouth C.E.O has also dismissed the rumours that Pompey are currently under a transfer embargo and is confident that there will be a positive outcome when Tal Ben-Haim takes the club to a tribunal over alleged unpaid wages.

He believes that Pompey have a strong case and the Football League should rule in the club's favour. That means that the likes of David Norris should arrive without any hassle and new faces, such as Burnley's Andre Bikey, are going to join a long list of players that Cotterill wants to bring to Fratton Park.
