Koroman Returns? - Fratton Faithful

Koroman Returns?

Last updated : 21 August 2006 By Jim Bonner
Football is a funny game. Having previously mentioned in a past article that we wouldn't know how good Ognjen Koroman could have been it looks like we could finally find out after all!

Koroman has said that he has signed another loan deal, this time for a season, at Pompey and although the club are yet to confirm it, it would seem that this is true coming from the horses mouth so to speak.

Koroman can play either on the left wing or the right wing and looked quite handy when he come on for Serbia and Montenegro in the World Cup. He would bring natural width to Pompey which is something we are extremely lacking at present though whether he is actually good enough we will have to see although in what little playing time he had at Pompey he didn't do too bad. He even scored our final goal of the season against Liverpool on the final day with a neat finish.

You can understand why Harry will want to bring Koroman in as he's finding it hard to sign other players, namely Sulley Muntari where his club; Udinese are taking the piss and expect us to pay £11 million for him! Whilst he is a good player I don't value him that highly and quite obviously Harry doesn't either, quoting him saying "If they are asking £11 million for him they will be waiting a long time."

Other Pompey targets are also proving elusive. Sylvain Distin has now said he wants to stay at Manchester City whilst Nicholas Anelka looks set to join Bolton now. Juan Vargas is now also going to join Serie A new boys Catania leaving Redknapp frustrated with the transfer market to date.

Mind you, if we continue to play like we did on Saturday we might not need these "big name" players!
