Konchensky the latest target

Young Paul Konchensky has been in the full England squad before, and made a substitute apperance against Australia in February, but the left sided player is unsettled at the Valley and believes a move south would further his international career.

Chairman Milan Mandaric commented: "We should know in the next 24 hours whether anything will happen. He is a quality young player, and the time is running out for us to sign a left-sided defender.'

But he warns: "If we don't succeed then we are looking aggressively and have others we are ready to pursue".

He also suggested that Portsmouth are interested in buying cover for Todorov, with Darren Huckerby's name mentioned. However, defensive cover remains top on the agenda.
