Keown Says No To Pompey

Martin Keown has turned down the chance to become Pompey's assistant manager after holding talks with Tony Adams, leaving the Pompey gaffer to continue his search for coaching staff.

Adams said: "I think Martin is feeling that sitting on the sofa at Match of the Day and Football Focus is the way forward. It might not be right for here and now but in the future who knows? I might persuade him in the summer."

Tony has also denied speaking to Dennis Bergkamp about joining the coaching staff and is now hinting that he will look abroad, possibly at French coaches as many of the players at the club can speak French.

In other news, Pompey are no longer bottom of their UEFA Cup group following Heerenveen's 5-1 thrashing at VfL Wolfsburg, whilst AC Milan already look like qualifying for the knockout stages after Ronaldinho stepped off the bench and scored an injury time winner against SC Braga.

Harry Redknapp also enjoyed his first European win as Spurs beat Dinamo Zagreb 4-0 whilst Benjani found the net for Man City as they beat Steve McClaren's FC Twente 3-2.
