Johnson To Pompey?

After missing out on one Johnson Pompey seem set to sign another as Chelsea defender Glen Johnson is reportedly joining Pompey on loan, if the local news is to be believed.

Johnson was considered a great youth talent when Harry Redknapp was at West Ham and it looks like the connections to his former club are going to give him the edge over a big dutch club when going to sign him on loan. Johnson has fell out of favour at Chelsea since Jose Mourinho took over despite flourishing in his first season at the club, according to some of the Chelsea fans anyway so a move elsewhere would help to ressurect his career.

If we were to sign Glen Johnson it would raise a few questions about our current right back situation (since Johnson is a right back). We already have Priske, Griffin, Pamarot, Primus and Duffy who can play right back so we're not exactly "down to the bare bones" in that area. So are we going to sell Griffin? Primus has already signed a new contract, Duffy is apparently going to try and break into the first team and Pamarot has only been here half the season. Griffin has fallen out of favour so he might end up being sold...

Either that or Harry would want him to play right midfield seeing as we're a lot lighter in that area and doing this would allow Gary O'Neil to play in his favoured centre midfield position. Either way I hope this doesn't mean Brian Priske is put on the bench again, unless Priske would be moved to centre defence, another area where we are considerably weak. The possibilities are (sort of) endless.

In other news, Andres D'Alessandro looks almost certain to join La Liga club Real Sociedad according to a Spanish magazine, possibly bringing an end to this long and boring saga. We shall see...
