Johnson Completes Liverpool Switch

Last updated : 26 June 2009 By Jim Bonner
Glen Johnson has signed for Liverpool for a fee believed to be £17.5 million and has penned a four-year contract with the Reds.

I honestly thought that he might have stayed with the takeover on the horizon but the opportunity to play for him to play for one of Europe's top clubs in the Champions League was too hard to resist.

It's unsure how much money Portsmouth will receive for Johnson as it's believed that Pompey still owe Liverpool a significant sum of money for Peter Crouch.

I'm personally glad he has gone to Liverpool rather than Chelsea or Man City as I think he offers the Scousers more than the Londoners and he hasn't just gone for where the money is at. I just hope this move is beneficial for his international career and he plays every game for Liverpool.

Thanks for three fantastic years of service Glen and I personally wish you all the best after all the hard work you've put into the Pompey cause without ever complaining about the situation of the team. I just hope that you remember who rebuilt your career if you do become one of the world's best.

Now we just have to find a replacement for the best right back in the league....
