Johnson Becomes First Signing

It has today been confirmed that Glen Johnson has signed for Pompey on a one year loan deal from Chelsea. The 21 year old right back told the official site "The club have big ambitions and I'm looking forward to playing a part in them."

Glen joins Pompey contrary to reports that he was about to join Feyenoord on loan instead. This signing might virtually confirm the release of Brian Priske although no official statement has been made yet, obviously Johnson can't play against Chelsea so we only have Andy Griffin to play in his position now if reports are true, or of course Johnson if gets injured we will have Griffin playing longer than we probably thought we would this season.

I'm reserved about Johnson myself, I can understand why Harry has brought him here as he is similar to Matt Taylor who loves to get forward but a bit suspect at the back, he certainly has potential though and Harry has a knack of getting the best out of these players with potential so I'll certainly trust him to do the same with Johnson.

In other news former Arsenal stalwart Tony Adams has officially been confirmed as Harry's new assistant at Fratton Park. The 39 year old will officially start his tenure at Pompey on Saturday. Here's hoping his influence can improve our leaky defence!

It has also been confirmed that our initial bid for Stilian Petrov has been rejected by Celtic, but we will return with a better offer according to Milan Mandaric, so here's hoping something can be sorted quickly to avoid a "war of words" as quoted by Milan himself.

A signing... at last!
