James To Have Shoulder Surgery

David James will have surgery on a shoulder injury on Wednesday that will keep him out of action for approximately three months.

Jamo stated that he has been "injured for 18 months" but has put off the surgery until Pompey were assured of Premier League safety which explains why Asmir Begovic started yesterday night.

As a result of the surgery James will miss the final league game at Wigan having not missed a single minute of Pompey's season prior to yesterday's win against Sunderland.

This injury may explain why Jamo has been in patchy form virtually all season which culminated in two mistakes against Arsenal and Blackburn in the last couple of weeks. Hopefully when he recovers he will be back to his brilliant best.

England's number one will also miss the international qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Andorra in June.
