There's more good news for Pompey fans this week as David James has extended his current deal at the club until the end of the 2009/2010 season.

It's been quite a year for the 37-year-old who has kept 18 clean sheets this season and has been recalled to the England starting lineup. Jamo expressed his delight at extending his contract:

"I'm enjoying being at Pompey - it's a fantastic environment. I never envisaged the club being in this position when I joined."

James isn't the only one to be surprised how quickly Pompey have risen as Jermain Defoe has also expressed his surprise at how good his team mates are.

It looks like Pompey are finally started to be taken seriously as a football force.
