International incidents

Pompey's international contingent fared less well in midweek, following their goalscoring/near goalscoring/chance creating performances at the weekend.

None of our lads actually won yesterday; Ricardo Fuller came closest with a 0-0 between his Jamaica and El Savador, and could've won the match himself but hit the post. Richard Hughes was part of the Scotland squad who drew 1-1 in Moldova, although remained on the bench as Berti Vogts' team struggled to another embarrassing result.

After minding the net in Trinidad's 5-1 win at the weekend, Shaka Hislop's fortunes changed dramatically as his team were outclassed by Mexico. The South Americans ran out easy 3-0 winners, once again stopping Shaka from keeping a clean sheet this season.

All of these performances followed in the footsteps of Gary O'Neil and Richard Duffy's appearances for the English and Welsh U21s on Tuesday evening, although they also could only draw 0-0 and 2-2 respectively. Hopefully they're all saving their winning spirit for Monday night!
