International Action

David James kept a second half clean sheet at Wembley on Wednesday night but could not stop England slumping to a 2-1 defeat after a horrendous error from Paul Robinson in the first half.

Jamo had little to do in truth during the second half of a game where England had taken the lead after Frank Lampard put them ahead. However, a howler from Paul Robinson gifted Kevin Kuranyi an equaliser as the current England number one 'keeper failed to deal with a seemingly harmless cross.

Christian Pander then hit a rocket into the net soon after to give Germany the win as England couldn't find a reply despite numerous chances. The big talking point will be Robinson's mistake though, as David James now could be recalled to the first team squad for the Euro 2008 qualifier against Israel.

In other international action featuring Pompey players, John Utaka and Kanu would have been disappointed that they were held to a 0-0 draw in Macedonia whilst Hermann Hreidarsson's Iceland drew 1-1 with Canada.

Yesterday, Martin Cranie performed well at left back for the England U-21 team as they drew 1-1 with Romania U-21's and Harry Redknapp went to the New Den to watch Sulley Muntari and transfer target Papa Bouba Diop as Senegal and Ghana played out a 1-1 draw.
