Ins and Outs

Today has seen some more concrete movement in the transfer market.

Dio Kamara has joined West Brom for £1.5m in one of the worst kept secrets in football. Harry Redknapp did also make a late bid but in the end Kammy decided that Premier League football was preferable to Hull and Luton, although I can't think why. Obviously Dio is a player of great potential but I can see why Alain has decided he's not worth that fee as there's rarely an end product with him. What's more, it's always a bit of a struggle to fit him in the team - he's not an out and out striker, he goes forward too much for a midfielder and he hasn't got the discipline for the wing. Still, that's Bryan Robson's problem now but a bit thanks to Dio for what he did in his time here and his mental goal celebration against Charlton.

But it's not all players leaving, as the classic Damien Francis story has made a reappearance. And this isn't Mark Storey "I love Alexei Smertin so I'm going to mention him every day" style either; according to the Norwich Official Site, Francis has been withdrawn from the squad to face Colchester tonight to discuss personal terms with us. It just goes to show that despite fans whinging about us not signing him at the time, the club have played this situation just right - when the original bid was turned down we obviously told Norwich to forget it, they've clearly got a bit edgy thinking they wouldn't get any money for him and now we've gone in for the kill. A shame that Norwich had to make it public in a fairly obvious attempt to get someone else to come in and make a bigger bid but hopefully we can act quickly to get him on board.

Elsewhere, Marseille forward/winger Fabrice Fiorese has turned down a move because he's waiting on offers from Celtic and Rangers, as well as a potential move to Qatar (I wonder what his motivation could be then).

And finally my "Prediction Of The Day" - now that Southampton have missed out on Kamara I'll give it a week before Fuller is stepping out at St Mary's with a red and white striped shirt.
