Ipswich Town's Icelandic defender Hermann Hreidarsson has snubbed Pompey and instead signed for Charlton Athletic.
Pompey had an estimated £750,000 bid for the versatile 28-year-old defender accepted by the East Anglia club late last week and held talks with the player over the weekend. However, Charlton made an eleventh-hour swoop for the player and after talks at The Valley he has signed for the South London club.
