Henderson To Leave For Hammers

Stephen Henderson is set to join West Ham on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent deal.

Trevor Birch revealed that Pompey are set to receive a "significant sum of money" that will go towards keeping the club alive.

It's a shame to be losing a talented young keeper who seemed to really enjoy his time at Portsmouth. Whilst his distribution needs improving, his shot-stopping ability and command of his area is excellent for someone of his age.

I'd like to wish Stephen all the best in his career and I'm sure Pompey fans will follow his progress having made a name for himself at Fratton Park.

On top of Henderson's departure, Hayden Mullins is also set to leave Pompey for an unnamed club, believed to be Reading. The Pompey midfielder, who had started every match this season, is currently in talks with the Royals.

Michael Appleton revealed that he didn't start today's game at Brighton because "his head wasn't in the right place" and so it looks like another key player wil be out of the door before long.
