Help Rotherham United

Pompey are in trouble, 19th in the Premiership and 8 points adrift of safety faced with the "daunting" task of going to Stamford Bridge in a couple of weeks. It's quite likely we will be relegated at the end of the season into the Championship but backed financially by Mandaric and Gaydamak we'll have a decent shout of re-promotion should the worst happen to us. Whatever happens, next year we should have a brand new stadium and can be optimistic about the season ahead regardless of what division we are in.

Now take Rotherham United. Second from bottom in League One only seperated from the bottom by goal difference in which the team below them (MK Dons) have a game in hand. They are on the verge of being relegated to League Two but that isn't the problem.

The problem The Millers are facing are the very same problem we had some time ago. Going out of business altogether and not having a football club to support. We were lucky and we were bailed out by Milan Mandaric however I doubt very much that Rotherham will have the same kind of luck we did.

The term "dire straits" is an understatement as Rotherham have no assets. They don't own Millmoor and they don't own their training ground but more importantly they don't have enough money to carry on trading. They need to raise £1 Million to carry on until the end of the season and should they be relegated that figure could rise even more. It is a stark contrast to our own club where we can blow £4.1 Million on Benjani.

Basically the club need help and have nowhere else to turn to bar football fans in general. This is my own plea to help Rotherham United to stay afloat and any true football fan would do something to help for the sake of these people having a football team to support. Could you imagine life without Portsmouth Football Club? No, me neither. In fact Rotherham should hold a significant place in our hearts as they were the team we beat to be crowned champions of Division One in 2003.

If you can donate some money to Rotherham and help save their club then click on the link below and it will give you the information you need to make a donation:

If you're a fan of football and you have a heart then get donating. Just remember this could easily have been us back in the 90's so just remember next week when we're singing "Let's all have a disco" when we're 3-0 down to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in two Saturdays' time that Millers fans will be sitting at Millmoor as they play Chesterfield wondering if they will have a club to support in the near future and that's even if they still exist by then.

What are you waiting for?
