Hasty reporting from FF as the name returns

Fratton Faithful would like to apologise for a piece of reporting yesterday that misinformed our readers.

We reported that Pompey had signed the Argentinian striker Leonardo Biagini on loan from Real Mallorca with a view to a permanent move - not only had he signed, he'd also played in the reserves against QPR.

This was quite a worrying statement as the player that played against the reserves didn't look too good and was another exotically named player: Nick Tagliani.

Talks with Biagini broke down late last night but Pompey hope to resume on Monday and sign Biagini in time for Rotherham on Saturday. If the player impresses, he could be Pompey's first summer signing. Biagini has scored in the Champions League and the UEFA cup so comes with an excellent pedigree. Good work from Harry Redknapp.

Yesterday Fratton Faithful returned to the traditional name - visitors can still reach the site via 'portsmouth-mad' but the hardcore among you will welcome the return to www.frattonfaithful.co.uk
