Harry Signs New Contract

Harry Redknapp has signed a new contract with Portsmouth Football Club which will keep him at the club until 2011.

This can only be good news for Pompey fans. Whatever you say about the bloke, there's no doubt that he's been one of the most important figures in the club's history and with this new deal we can hope to expect even more from him.

Although a contract doesn't mean he's guaranteed to stay at Pompey until 2011, it's obvious that he's happy here after publicly praising how well the chairman has backed him in the transfer window and how he's excited about the future of the club.

I personally think that Harry has become a better manager during his second tenure at the club. One of the main criticisms during his first spell here (and some of his second) is that he had no "Plan B" and that we could only play one way.

These days, we can play in a number of different ways because of the players we have and he hasn't bought a bad player this summer (although the Nugent signing is up for debate there), which suggests that his good track record in the transfer window is also getting better.

In other news, Franck Songo'o has joined Crystal Palace on a months loan and will go straight into the squad for their game against Watford tonight, which can be seen on Sky Sports.

So here's to four more years under the best Pompey manager of my lifetime, and hopefully even more successful times will be had.
