Harry Redknapp has told the local paper that Pompey won't be trying to sign another striker on loan for the rest of the season. He feels that Pompey already have too many strikers and Rix must work with what he's got.
It is a move that will anger some fans who feel a striker is a necessity if Pompey are to push for the play offs this season. The team has been hit hard by the loss of Mark Burchill and suddenly goals have been a problem for Pompey with Crouch out injured as well.
Many fans feel that Lee Bradbury and Lee Mills are not up to the task and that Steve Lovell is still slightly too young to carry the goalscoring burden. It is certainly true that Pompey have looked a different side since the loss of Mark Burchill's pace and striking prowess.
A loan deal was expected to be the solution but it seems like Pompey will have to plough on with what they've got for the time being.
