HARRY: 'HE'S A PROPER PLAYER'

After much talk and column inches, Paul Merson has been unveiled to the media but there was no superstar on show just a man who is desperate to have one last swansong. He kept on saying that all he wants to do is play football - a far cry from the man described to be waiting on a better deal after the signing was leaked to the press at the end of last week.

Merson cannot wait to play infront of the Fratton Faithful and will slot straight into the team wearing his favoured number 10 shirt. His role has not been discussed but it must surely be as an attacking midfielder that the club so desperately needs.

This however won't be the last signing that Redknapp makes this summer - he is currently in talks with another international who played in the 1994 World Cup. It is unknown whether he will be in place before Saturday but it is once again another 'Redknapp Mystery Signing'. Redknapp is delighted with his latest acquisition and there is no doubt that Pompey fans will be as well.

Could this really be our season?
