The writing has been on the wall for well over a year now after the 1-0 defeat at Villa Park that seemed to kill his Pompey career. The only surprise is that he didn't join Stoke permanently after spending last season on loan at the Brittania Stadium.
Griffin always gave 100% on the pitch and was never afraid to get stuck in but his lack of pace and limited ability meant his days as a Premiership player were seemingly over but now there's a chance he could be facing us on the opening day.
With the likes of Lauren, Cranie and Pamarot all ahead of him in the pecking order, he was never going to see first team football at Fratton Park anymore. Andy leaves without a bad opinion of the player as a man and I wish him well, but not until the second game of the season!
