Give Yoshi a chance as Canadian looks set for trial at Pompey

A few days ago, this site pleaded for Yoshi to be given another chance in goal for the Blues. Dave Beasant has made even worse mistakes than the Japanese Number one - as well as having terrible distribution. Yoshi has failed to feature in any reserve games - with Rix using out of favour Petterson instead.

Instead of becoming downbeat, Yoshi has maintained his fitness by training with the Youth team and keeping his impecable attitude towards the game: "I am doing everything I can and am just waiting for my next chance." Compare this to Russell Hoult who even refused to play in the reserves.

Yoshi states that his English is improving and he now feels ready to have a real go at English football. The fact that the World Cup is looming has made him even more determined. However Pompey seem to be looking past Yoshi, with the news that Lars Hirschfeld is jetting in tomorrow, for a trial.

Hirschfield has recently starred in the Gold Cup and has had a trial with Hearts, in Scotland. Hirschfield told the Canadaian equivalent of SKY sports:

"From what I hear, they've seen some video footage already from the Gold Cup and they basically want to me play in one reserve game on Wednesday Feb 20. They said that's all they need to make a decision."

If the 23 year old comes in as a replacement for Chris Tardiff with Yoshi as number one then it would be a good move, but if it just pushes Yoshi further out of the picture then it would be terrible for the club.
