FF Readers tip Yakubu to be Pompey's hotshot

Almost half of the voters - 46.5% - thought that Yakubu Ayegbini - who opened his account at the impressive City of Manchester Stadium today - would top the Pompey scorer's chart come the end of the season, perhaps surprisingly edging out Teddy Sheringham, who himself netted in the season's curtain raiser last week.

Midfielder Patrik Berger was third with 10% of the vote. Portsmouth fans saw Vincent Pericard being unable to claim a permanent place in the side - he finished sixth with only 2.3%.

Fratton Faithful's readership also couldn't see Marc Burchill building bridges with Harry Redknapp - he came joint last with poor old Steve Stone, and has since been farmed out on loan at First Division Wigan Athletic.
