EXCLUSIVE: CROUCH LEAVES

Last updated : 25 March 2002 By
England U-21 star Peter Crouch is the first high profile player to leave the club since the high profile appointment of Harry Redknapp as the new manager of Pompey. Crouch is expected to sign for Aston Villa for a fee of £4.5million with a further £500,000 depending on appearances.

Crouch's sale is due to money being needed for Redknapp's rebuilding of the squad starting from today. The new gaffer wants to bring in at least six players before the start of next season and will use the money to part fund this venture. With Todorov just signed, strikers are certainly two a penny at Pompey.

Also leaving are Ceri Hughes who will join Cardiff and Stefani Miglioranzi who was today beginning talks with an unknown American league club.
