Euro-Africa Round Up

It's looking ever more likely that a large number of players representing Portsmouth FC will be playing in continental competition in 2008.

Sol Campbell completed a comfortable 90 minutes on his return to the England first team. The 33-year-old almost headed in an own goal but the ball needed to be defended or else an Estonian header could have resulted in England conceding.

David James watched from the bench as Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wayne Rooney and an own goal by Taavi Rahn resulted in a 3-0 win at Wembley.

It looks ominous that we'll be seeing Niko Kranjcar at Euro 2008 as Croatia beat Israel 1-0 at home courtesy of an Eduardo Da Silva goal. This result means that the Croats return to the top of England's qualifying group, with the two still due to meet at Wembley.

Iceland suffered a 4-2 home reverse to Latvia but Hermann Hreidarsson did not make the team at all. Perhaps he has suffered an injury...

It has also been confirmed that we will be missing Djimi Traore in January after Mali qualified for the African Nations Cup following a 2-0 win over Togo.

Sierra Leone didn't qualify for Ghana 2008 but that won't matter as the papers report that Harry Redknapp is not following up his interest in trialist Mohamed Kallon.
