Dorking Captain Passes Away

Last updated : 04 April 2007 By Jim Bonner
Former Dorking Captain Stewart Vaughan lost his battle to cancer this weekend and sadly passed away. The Pompey team played a charity match at Dorking back in February when he only had weeks to live and won 7-0 but the result didn't matter on the day.

Events like this really put things into perspective. Whilst some of us (myself included) continue to moan about the recent shortcomings of the Pompey team, it cannot be compared to what Stewart had to experience and the bravery of a man playing football knowing he has a fatal form of cancer has to be commended.

I wish to express my condolences to Stewart Vaughan's family on behalf of everyone at Fratton Faithful.
