Devera Joins Pompey

Portsmouth's signing spree continues as Joe Devera has joined the club on a two-year deal whilst Dan Butler has also signed a new two-year contract.

Devera, 26, was released by Swindon at the end of the season after he scored in their play-off semi-final defeat to Brentford and it's a move that seems to have shocked their fans.

Joe can play at centre back or right back and has plenty of experience at League Two level, winning the title with Swindon last year and being voted Barnet's player of the season twice whilst they were a league club.

Early impressions seem to be that Devera will be a fantastic addition to the squad and that news is bolstered by Butler signing a new contract too.

The 18-year-old may have made his fair share of mistakes since breaking into the first team but he has also shown a lot of promise since his spell at Havant & Waterlooville and should make the left back position his own during the course of next season.

With two more defenders signed up you do wonder what the future holds for Ricardo Rocha and Sam Sodje who are yet to agree new deals.

Both of them would be worthy of staying at Pompey but the wage budget suggests that there cannot be too many players in the squad that play in the same position and right now it seems like wingers and forwards would be the priority additions to the team.

Who knows who will sign next?
