DEFENSIVE DEALS ON DEADLINE DAY

Pompey have swooped to strengthen their defensive line up with the move for Rangers youngster Scott Wilson with a view to a permenant deal in the summer. Harry Redknapp has stated that Wilson and Howe will form a new defensive partership on Saturday - disgarding the likes of Primus and Buxton who have been in fine form this season. Zamperini will also be surprised, considering he was in line for a return under Redknapp.

Wilson has been touted for a while - proving that Graham Rix was never in full control over who was brought in or out of the club. Wilson is available on a free in the summer and Redknapp thinks it is worth looking at the player in first team action.

Dave Waterman has left Pompey and signed for Oxford. The third division club have been keen on his signature for a while and Waterman moved as he knew he wasn't wanted at Fratton Park. A sad end to one of Pompey's most loyal servants.
