Deadline Day Departures

Peter Brezovan and Ryan Bird have left Pompey today as Andy Awford didn't bring any players in on transfer deadline day.

Brezovan's short-term deal has ended now that Michael Poke is fit again and the former Torquay keeper may play his first match in a Portsmouth shirt at Yeovil tomorrow.

Bird has left the club by mutual consent and was snapped up by Cambridge United after his successful spell in the Conference last season. It'll be interesting to see if he can continue his good scoring record at the U's as he never looked up to standard in League Two.

It was always unlikely that Awford would sign anyone today. Long gone are the days of Harry Redknapp's late antics to sign a gem or a duffer at the last minute.

Not that it matters as the loan windows open soon and there are likely to be be one or two players signed in that time. But where does the Pompey squad need strengthening the most?
