Davies Joins Pompey

Pompey have signed right back Ben Davies on a one-year-deal after a successful trial spell at the club.

The 34-year-old will bring a lot of experience to the team having spent last season at Sheffield United and previous years in the Championship with Derby. Prior to that he won League Two with Notts County and made over 100 appearances for Shrewsbury and Chester City.

Davies will go straight into the squad for Saturday's curtain raiser with Dagenham & Redbridge and it's expected that the signing of ex-QPR goalkeeper Brian Murphy will also be confirmed in time for him to feature in the matchday squad.

Paul Cook revealed at the Pompey fans' forum yesterday that he missed out on signing another full back yesterday and it looks like that was Dan Harding who has instead signed for Eastleigh after refusing Cook's offer due to his previous connections with Southampton.

The Pompey manager has admitted that he's looking to add at least another right back, centre back and striker to his squad before the transfer window shuts but denies any interest in Plymouth's Reuben Reid.

So, who else can we expect to arrive before the month is over?
