Dagenham & Redbridge vs Portsmouth Preview

Last updated : 11 April 2014 By Jim Bonner

Pompey travel to the London borough of Barking and Dagenham tomorrow looking for a third straight win to seriously boost their League Two survival chances.

Team News

Patrick Agyemang could return to the side after recovering from an ankle injury whilst Danny East could also be available for selection after a long absence. Wes Fogden and Daniel Alfei have knocks and are doubts whilst Ryan Bird, Romain Padovani and Andy Barcham are still out injured. Ben Chorley serves the final match of his four game ban.

Dagenham will be without defender Scott Doe after he was sent off at Wycombe last weekend with Ian Gayle likely to replace him. Adebayo Azeez is available after he extended his loan from Charlton.

The Match

Two wins on the trot has seen the atmosphere around Portsmouth change after just over a year since the high court hearing which secured the club for the PST.

Whilst it has been a rocky start under fan ownership, Pompey fans will make their first trip to Victoria Road in good spirits following two good performances which has seen relegation fears ease considerably. In fact, a win tomorrow may virtually see Andy Awford's men safe if Northampton lose at home to Burton.

Dagenham have had a very good season given how everyone expected them to be relegated but they've been without two of their top players in Zavon Hines and Rhys Murphy recently and seem to turn games into a scrap. The Daggers were one of the worst teams Portsmouth have played all season so you would have to fancy our chances.

Wayne Burnett's men may make this game a scrap but Pompey showed plenty of fight in the win over Hartlepool and so that effort should be replicated with so much still to play for. Awford is likely to select the same team with Johnny Ertl set to step in if Fogden isn't fit.

It should be a good day in London tomorrow. Hopefully Pompey can get the three points which would go a long, long way to securing their Football League future next season.
