Pompey's game with Wimbledon scheduled originally for January 1st has been called off again this morning. With both sides out of the FA Cup it was hoped that the game rearranged for today would go ahead.

Referee Keith Hill made two morning inspections and by the time he made his second at 11.45 it was clear that the game would fall foul to the weather for the 2nd time this month.

Visible puddles were forming and Hill took a ball out with him which would hardly bounce at all. Add to this the dangerous high wind and further forecast of rain then the 2nd inspection was liitle more than a formaility.

Referee Hill said: "I wanted to be as fair as possible which is why I had two inspections.

"But the weather was getting no better and the pitch had already become unplayable."
