Crouch Injured In England Win

Portsmouth fans were left sweating after Peter Crouch was the third England striker to leave the Wembley pitch injured yesterday as the national side thumped Slovakia 4-0.

The Pompey striker had already sat out previous training and probably wouldn't have participated if Emile Heskey and his replacement, Carlton Cole, hadn't have to have come off with injuries.

Crouch then had to withdraw after the 74th minute after a collision with Martin Skrtel but the injury isn't serious and early reports claim that the lanky striker will be available to play in the qualifier against Ukraine on Wednesday.

David James and Glen Johnson also played yesterday with Johnson looking comfortable albeit against a poor Slovakia attack but they did force Jamo into making a couple of decent saves.

As for the overall England performance I can't comment too much as I didn't see the entire game but we looked comfortable and Gerrard and Rooney were outstanding, albeit against a very average team. Ukraine will be tougher so it will be interesting to see if we are capable of playing that well again on Wednesday.

In other international news Theofanis Gekas actually played some football and scored for Greece in their 1-1 draw with Israel whilst Nadir Belhadj participating for Algeria as they drew 0-0 with Rwanda to open their World Cup qualifying campaign.
