Cranie Signs

"The People also say that we're in for Martin Cranie; the full back who plays for our neighbours. Harry has said he is happy with his defence and so I can't see this happening either. In fact I don't see us signing any other defender this summer unless John Terry declares his undying love for Pompey."

*Ahem*

Harry Redknapp has made his fourth signing of the summer this season by capturing 20-year-old Martin Cranie from Southampton. The full back plays on the left but can also play in the centre if needed, meaning we now have four players that can play on the left and in the centre.

Cranie rejected a new deal at St Mary's and a compensation fee has been paid to the Saints as the young defender feels his career has a better chance of progressing at Premiership level rather than slumming it with Southampton in the Championship.

Welcome to the top club on the South Coast Martin!

Finally, I wish to express my condolences to the family of Derek Dougan who as also known as " The Doog". Although his career was before my time, he is still well remembered by the Pompey fans that saw him start his career at Fratton Park and bag 9 goals for us from 1957-1959 before eventually moving onto Wolves and becoming a legend for them.
