Coventry vs Portsmouth Preview

Last updated : 11 January 2010 By Jim Bonner
Pompey travel to the Ricoh Arena tomorrow hoping to advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup, with the tie being screened live on ITV4.

Team News

Avram Grant may have David James back for this tie but is largely expected to stick with the same team that drew the previous game at Fratton Park. Jamie O'Hara cannot play under the terms of his loan deal from Tottenham whilst Aaron Mokoena is available after a suspension.

Chris Coleman may decide to name an unchanged side from the team that beat Barnsley on Saturday, barring those who are cup-tied or not allowed to play because of their loan agreement.

The Match

After talk of protests it's good to finally talk about football again as Pompey make their first ever trip to Coventry's Ricoh Arena.

I'm not making the trip up to the Midlands personally which means I'm in for a night in front of a TV which is no doubt going to take some abuse. I'm not too confident about this one as it has "cup upset" written all over it.

Coventry will be up for this and I just hope our players will be too now that they've finally been paid. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't approach this going all guns blazing, given that Saturday's game against Birmingham is of far greater importance than the competition we won not too long ago.

I still expect a performance because the fact is that we're a poor Premier League side playing a mediocre Championship side and the gap in quality between the two should be significant enough to squeeze through.

I hope.
