Cooper Not Coming Back?

In an interview with The News, Shaun Cooper believes he may have missed the chance to return to Portsmouth due to a possible misunderstanding with Guy Whittingham.

The 29-year-old utility player told Guy he'd be interested in playing for Pompey in League Two but wanted to weigh up his options as a free agent at the end of the season.

The plethora of signings that Whittingham has made in the close season, especially in defence, suggests that Cooper has indeed "missed the boat" even if "the door is slightly ajar" with regards to him coming back.

Whilst he may not have pulled up any trees when he first signed, Shaun improved greatly as the campaign moved into its final stages and was one of Pompey's best performers in the last few games and even managed to score a couple of goals.

He has plenty of experience in League Two with Bournemouth and so personally I'd like to see him stay on. Although it seems that Guy doesn't feel the same way.

Liam Walker is another player who is yet to sign a contract for whatever reason. Hopefully he will sign a new deal as I still believe he is the best passer of the ball in the squad, though he might need to toughen up a bit for League Two's brutalities next season.
