Cole The Brummie

Andy (or Andrew as he likes to be known these days) Cole has joined Championship promotion hopefuls Birmingham City today after Harry Redknapp told him he could not guarantee him first team football. The move reunites Cole with his Manchester United team-mate Steve Bruce.

Cole has only scored 4 goals for us and has missed a large chunk of the season due to injury. So will this move prove to be "Good Riddance" or a "Sorry miss" on our part?

Cole has netted a couple of vital goals for us. A scrappy equaliser against Fulham and a goal in a 2-1 win over Wigan in the Cup. His other goals came against West Ham and Bolton but I've generally been disappointed with Cole's contribution this season.

He's not really changed many games that I can think of where he has come on as sub and he doesn't do enough in other games to warrant a place in the team. Granted, it's not all his own fault because the midfielders and support strikers have to help him out as much as possible. But he still hasn't had the impact a lot of us had hoped for, and he's on mega high wages too.

Cole almost left the club for Everton and West Ham on loan back in January but opted to stay to Harry's delight. It just hasn't worked out and a loan move was probably best for both parties as the 36-year-old can now regain his match sharpness at a lower level and hopefully return to the club back to his best.

Andrew's exit could mean that Svetoslav Todorov might actually get a game for Pompey! The fans have been asking for him to be called up and they may finally get their wish as Toddy is the most natural finisher at the club now Cole has gone.

But will Harry actually play him? That is the question...
