Casualties Clearing

Last updated : 22 February 2007 By Jim Bonner
Pompey were worrying today over the fitness of Lauren after he picked up a thigh injury in training and it looked if so the Cameroonian would be out for a month.

However, the club have revealed that the injury isn't as bad as first feared and that the right back will miss the Blackburn game, but could feature against Chelsea which would be handy considering Glen Johnson is illegible for that game.

Dejan Stefanovic is almost ready to return too. He has much to prove to some of the more cynical of Pompey fans after some poor performances before his injury. The Pompey captain remains hopeful that his future will be sorted out soon and reiterated his desire to stay at Fratton Park despite speculation linking him to Leicester.

Pedro Mendes could start against Blackburn following a quick recovery from Joey Barton's rash challenge. The Man City midfielder/thug (delete as appropriate) isn't being charged by the FA. Fine. Let's just move on and forget it (until next season). It looks if so there's going to be no harm done in terms of Mendes' injury (if that makes sense!)

Linvoy is still doubtful for Sunday's clash and Andy Cole has been ruled out with a toe injury. Thankfully we have adequate cover up front.

Now here's hoping LuaLua can avoid the treatment room for the rest of the season!
