Captain Campbell

Sol Campbell has officially been named the new captain of Portsmouth, taking the armband that Dejan Stefanovic had for two seasons.

This is good news for a number of reasons:

- The news virtually means Campbell is staying and as captain he might sign a new deal soon. We now also have a real natural leader on the pitch who sets himself the highest standards and has plenty of "big match" experience.

- Stefanovic will no longer automatically walk into the team just because he wears the armband. He's often been a liability and the weak link in our defence. However, now he doesn't have the responsibility of captaining the side he can purely focus on his game and so his performances might be better, especially now he is completely free of injury.

- Hermann Hriedarsson is now probably the first choice left back at the club. I'm happy with this decision because out of all our options we have in that position I believe he is clearly the best player for this role. I still think we should try and get Leighton Baines from Wigan though...

Hopefully the responsibility of the armband won't decrease the quality of Campbell's play and for a player of his stature I don't think that will be the case anyway.

So well done Harry! Good move!
