Pompey striker Mark Burchill is being linked with a move north to Premiership strugglers Sunderland.

Burchill joined Portsmouth from Celtic in September 2001 for £650,000 after a long loan spell with Birmingham but he has struggled to hold down a regular place at Fratton Park under Harry Redknapp's leadership.

The 22-year-old striker has just recovered from a cruciate knee ligament injury, but is being kept out of the side by Robert Prosinecki.

It's understood Pompey are prepared to let Burchill go for a cut price fee in the region of £300,000.
