Benji To Sign New Deal

Pompey fans will be happy to learn that Benjani Mwaruwari is to be rewarded for his superb start to the season with a new contract.

Harry Redknapp told The News that Peter Storrie is going to sit down with the Zimbabwean forward and discuss new terms amidst rumours that Juventus have offered £7 million for him.

The 29-year-old's transformation has been remarkable and I expect that even if he hadn't have scored as many goals this season, he would have been offered a new deal eventually because everyone associated with Pompey loves him.

In other news, Harry has said that Matthew Taylor is another player who is going nowhere, despite his lack of playing time this season.
Sunderland had been linked with the 25-year-old but Harry promises that he still has a future here. Didn't he say something about Gary O'Neil?

Paraguay striker Nelson Cuevas claims he is training with Pompey in a bid to get fit after a knee-injury. He is free to join any club in the January transfer window but is also going to Blackburn to continue his fitness bid.

Pompey have also been linked with Portuguese "wonderkid" Tiago Gomes.
