Belhadj Becomes A Blue

Last updated : 01 September 2008 By Jim Bonner
Algerian left back Nadir Belhadj has signed for Pompey on a year loan deal from French second division club RC Lens.

The 26-year-old can also play left wing or on the right and so boosts Harry Redknapp's options on either flank. Pompey have an option to buy Belhadj if he impresses at Fratton Park.

I'll admit I don't know much about Belhadj apart from that he was part of a Lens defence that got relegated last season. He has also been capped 25 times for his country, scoring three times.

I've heard he is quite good but we won't know for sure until he makes his debut in the Pompey number 39 shirt.

I expect more moves before the end of transfer deadline day so watch this space. Welcome aboard Nadir!
