A deal to sign Dave Beasant has gone through Fratton Faithful understands - contrary to a statement on the official site. The deal will see Pompey's loan keeper join Tottenham as cover for Neil Sullivan - it is thought that Mandaric refused to offer Beasant an extension and Rix used his contacts to find Beasant a place on the Tottenham bench.

Milan Mandaric was unhappy with Beasant's condesending comments towards Kawaguchi before he arrived - He appeared on television saying that he was doubtful that the Japanese goalkeeper would be a success in England and that it was maybe a commercial decision. The MandaricYoshiRixBeasant situation has been one laden with arguments and it is no surprise that Mandaric has slammed his fist down and refused to extend Beasant's contract - despite Rix wanting the keep 'Bez' for the rest of the season.
Rix said about Beasant: 'He arrived here in difficult circumstances and has been brilliant both on and off the pitch. Yoshi Kawaguchi has come in for the last couple of games and been brilliant for us. But I'm sure Bez will be a huge success at Spurs - and wherever else he goes. Chris Tardif is our No2 again now and I'm sure he'll be able to handle it."
