Yoshi was the pin-up boy of Japanese football when he joined Portsmouth from Yokohama Marinos in October 2001 as cover for Dave Beasant. He was expected at the time to be the long term replacement for the sadly departed Aaron Flahavan, but it never quite worked out, and he lost his place to Siego Narazaki in the 2002 World Cup finals due to a knee problem. This must have been some dissapointment after previously being the country's captain.

Nonetheless, despite his problems and quite often erratic displays his commitment to the club was never in doubt, and Fratton Faithful wish him well in his new career in Denmark.
