Al-Fahim Resigns

Sulaiman Al-Fahim has had his offer of resignation accepted by the Portsmouth board after being asked to step down by Balram Chainrai and Peter Storrie.

Al-Fahim has tabled an informal offer to the Pompey Supporters' Trust who are wary of the offer and I don't blame them. Who knows what burden this 10% share carries after all?

With Al-Fahim gone that just leaves the Gaydamaks and Ali Al-Faraj and his cronies to "disassociate" from Portsmouth Football Club. Al-Fahim's intentions seemed to be good but the fact is that he is clueless when it comes to football and he never had anywhere near enough liquid finance to pump into the club when we needed it the most.

At least he has offered the fans a chance to have their say on the board. If the PST were to accept the 10% stake that Al-Fahim has left to them then that should give them a representative to sit on the board and access to all the accounts too.

Speaking of accounts, Peter Storrie revealed the main source of Pompey's financial problems in this interview with ESPN. It's all fine and well revealing the problems Peter, but you were the cause! I mean, which other C.E.O could possibly negotiate contracts with players that resulted in the club losing money in bonuses when it came to winning the FA Cup!? It's almost unbelieveable...

I was hoping to read about a new owner taking over today but at least Storrie is doing his homework by asking for proof of funds. Why he didn't do this (and why due dilligence didn't reveal Al-Fahim's or Al-Faraj's lack of funds) before is something that can be discussed until the cows come home but it was certainly a huge mistake on Storrie's part. I'd sure love to be paid £1.2 million a year to make those sort of mistakes!

Let's hope it's third time lucky. (Or should that be "fifth time lucky"?)
