Aiming high

It's kind of that boring spell at the moment; the bit of time between Christmas and New Year where we're neither here nor there and we're just waiting for the transfer window to open. As such, the latest topic of debate is just where we can look to finish this season.

Personally, I'll be waiting for us to hit the big four-zero before I start thinking about getting any higher, but deputy captain Nigel Quashie has spoken to "The News" about his aspirations of a top eight finish, giving way to the possiblity of a tour of Europe next season.

Arjan De Zeeuw and Velimir Zajec have both said lately how ensuring survival is the first priority before planning ahead any further, and I completely agree. But it's nice to hear that there's confidence within the camp that Portsmouth FC, one-time Division One relegation fodder, are now realistically looking at the prospect of finishing in the top half of the Premiership table.

As long as we avoid a Bolton-esque collapse of form, of course.
